Hair-Rejuvenation – PRP/GFC Treatment

PRP-Treatment

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a safe, minimally invasive procedure that help boost healing, regeneration and growth. It’s often used to treat injured tendons, ligaments and muscles. PRP therapy is also done in cases of hair loss which helps promote and maintain hair growth. It stimulates hair growth and thickness, as well as protect hair follicles from prematurely shedding, thereby increasing the hair thickness and density.
Blood consists of approximately 55% plasma (liquid component) and 45% formed elements including: Erythrocytes (red blood cells – RBCs), Leukocytes (white blood cells – WBCs) and thrombocytes (platelets). Platelets play a role in the clotting of blood and they contain cytokines and proteins that promote growth, healing and rejuvenation. Platelets are known to release high quantities of growth factors such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) and β2 (TGF-β2), fibroblast growth factor (FGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF), which stimulate cell proliferation, matrix remodelling and angiogenesis.
Several researches say that the growth factors released from platelets may act on stem cells in the bulge area of the follicles thereby stimulating the development of new follicles and promoting neovascularization.
PRP therapy is an autologous preparation of platelets in concentrated plasma. Hence, there are no side effects and also no risk of contracting any communicable disease because it involves injecting your own blood back into your scalp.
PRP therapy is a long term and effective treatment that can prevent further hair loss in its early, non-balding stages and helps in promoting hair growth. PRP therapy promotes hair growth, increases hair thickness and helps protect your hair from prematurely shedding. It is essential to keep in mind that individual results depend on factors such as the extent of hair loss, the underlying cause and the patient's overall health.
The effects of PRP therapy appear gradually over a period of few months. A minimum of 4-6 sessions are needed to see the results. These sessions are done 3-4 weeks apart.
